Since 1990, PerfecTest systems have provided PCB fabricators with the tools for identifying, measuring, and correcting process variations to eliminate registration errors on high density PCBs.

The PerfecTest system identifies and measures the specific processes that cause registration error. It identifies error relating to:

1) The SIZE of each layer,(expansion or shrinkage) in both X and Y axis, and provides corrected scale factor for that job, or any future job with the same panel construction. It is important to note that PerfecTest enables the user to establish a construction-specific database that includes all of the variables that affect registration, including:

      a.copper thickness
      b.copper geometry
c.glass style and thickness of each pre-preg
d.glass style and thickness of each core
e.type of material (FR4, Polyamide, etc.)
      f.panel size and layout

2) The LOCATION (shift and rotation) reveals how layers stacks-up within a panel so the fabricator can:

a.identify and measure errors occurring during imaging; and separate
random imaging error from repetitive imaging error.
b.identify and measure core errors during lamination, enabling the
fabricator to identify the specific cause of core-to-core error, such as
post-etch punch inaccuracy, problems in stack-up, uneven press
      pressures, etc.
c.identify and measure panel-to-panel variation, occurring at the drill.

The PerfecTest database is designed to be networked directly into pre-production engineering. When a new job is set up in pre-production engineering or CAM, the PerfecTest software will automatically search its database, find the best-matching scale factors for each layer, in X and Y axis, based on previous jobs with the same or similar construction, and import those scale factors directly into CAM / photoplotting.

The new-generation, PerfecTest Version 4, offers all-inclusive automated search functions to determine optimized scaling factors during the set up of new jobs. PCB fabricators in 22 countries use it. Major PCB OEM/EMS fabricators specify it as a process standard.
